Conectiva gives Caldera user presence in Brazil

Linux vendors Caldera International and Conectiva are expanding their UnitedLinux partnership to boost Caldera's user presence in Brazil.

Under the deal, the products and services of US company Caldera will be offered through the sales channels of Brazilian firm Conectiva, which is the leading Linux vendor in Latin America.

Caldera will sell and service its Volution messaging and systems management products and its Open Unix and OpenServer Unix operating systems in Brazil.

"Expanding our relationship with Conectiva was a natural extension of the UnitedLinux initiative," said president and chief executive officer Darl McBride.

"With 70% of the Linux market share in Latin America, Conectiva is in a better position to service the business customers in this important market more economically and efficiently."
