Employees bring their own IT to work

Employees are bypassing IT departments and implementing their own software solutions, a study from data company Informatica Corporation has found.

Company IT systems are being overwhelmed by new applications as staff increasingly use their own cloud services at work.

In the survey of 300 business professionals, 39% said they bought their own software as IT departments were too slow to respond to their queries.

Businesses will face more integration problems due to the rise of cloud computing models, said Mark Seager, vice-president at EMEA, Informatica.

"In order for businesses to continue to drive efficiencies and remain competitive in 2011, the issue of business and IT alignment has to be resolved," he said.
