Deep space technology to drive large-scale RFID revolution

This week sees the start of a major exhibition in the US organised by RFID Journal at which a new RFID company with significant potential to create change will make its bow.

Mojix, a company developed out of work originally done by NASA, offers the potential for 100,000 times the indoor receiver sensitivity of previous RFID solutions; 20 times the read range of conventional passive RFID readers; and 100 times greater coverage than conventional systems.

Mojix says these breakthroughs are the result of new signal processing technology it has perfected in deep space applications to detect extremely faint signals, combined with innovative new systems architecture and rich reader management capabilities. The company believes this will make it possible to economically deploy RFID in immensely large contiguous spaces and across multiple, simultaneous, real-time business processes with much greater levels of accuracy, reliability and scalability.

Mojix is already working with organisations such as Kraft, Proctor & Gamble and Kimberly Clark and has a major implementation underway in Germany. More to follow on this. In the meantime, you can read about the company at its website
