Staples tries out reusable RFID tags

One of the problems with RFID implementation to date has always been the cost of the tags. I've heard it said by some on the supply side that too many users just keep on waiting and waiting for the cost of the tags to come down, when they could be making process savings. Well, perhaps Staples has found a way forward.

The office supplies store - admittedly in a small low-key pilot - has been trialling re-usable tags, with some success. The pilot was paid for by suppliers Fujitsu and AbsoluteSky, but in the next stage, Staples will largely be paying its own way.
