There's a good summary in RFID Journal of what 2008 will hold for RFID. I'd echo Mark Roberti's comments, especially the idea that 2008 should be the year when more RFID-friendy software applications are developed for specific industries.
Ultimately, once RFID systems are up and running and delivering data, that data still has to be managed, manipulated, and turned into useful management information. EPCglobal's EPCIS standard offers signficant potential, and a pilot is being developed by GS1 UK, but it is still early days for companies to understand what EPCIS really means for them.
I'd expect there to be more efforts on delivering real education on this area in 2008.

Mark Roberti's article was very informative. It will be interesting to see how RFID technology will evolve this coming year to accommodate the different needs of businesses. Although some seem slow to adopt it, the long-term benefits outweigh the overall costs. RFID Journal LIVE! is going to be an exciting event this year!
