More on the UK RFID EPCIS middleware pilot

GS1 UK, the UK arm of the GS1 global standards organisation, has given some more details of its proposed trial for EPCIS middleware which could help already RFID-aware organisations create and drive a business case for RFID.

GS1 UK and its partner BT Auto-ID will be providing the service free of charge. So organisations looking to create a competitive edge through supply chain efficiency might want to take advantage of the opportunity. Mark Gillott is the contact at GS1 UK on 0207 092 3500 or mark.gillott@gs1uk.org and another contact is David Lyon via david.lyon@gs1uk.org

“The GS1 UK EPCIS pilot provides a groundbreaking opportunity for innovative organisations keen to improve their supply chain efficiency and save money by managing and exchanging data at a far more detailed level than ever before,” says Lyon, EPCglobal business manager, GS1 UK. “Organisations participating in the pilot will be able to store additional real-world supply chain data, such as the precise, real time co-ordinates of items and the storage of events and data from sensor networks such as temperature, humidity, light and vibration.”
