A major University is launching a Masters Degree teaching practical skills for IT people - with IT now being at the heart of every organisation (whether IT like it, or not) this is critical.

I have long thought that IT people know far more about business than we often realise or give credit for - indeed, at least as much as people in other functions. And, if you can't spare the time or investment for the Brunel Masters, read the financial and/or business pages every few days, or read The Week, or read The Economist.

It is a myth that so-called "technical people" cannot be leaders, do not have inter-personal skills, and can't communicate.
