The Persuasion Pack - Eight

The Pack of Cards of IT and Business Persuasion - Eight

In IT, perception is more important than performance. Assuming that your IT team performs, isn't it annoying that people still have a go at you as a department? That is becuase while what you do is clearly important, what people think you do, is even more so.

So, to help your perception, your business relationships and your career - welcome to the pack of cards of persuasion:

The eight most powerful words of influence - in all walks of life - here are the four to use, the four to avoid are under extended entry:

Use people's names - a person's name is the single sweetest sound in any langauge in the world, to that person When asking someone to do something - say "would"

When explaining why you are saying or suggesting somethung, use "because" before you explain why

And, say, write and use "and" whenever you can - and not its opposite (see extended entry)

The IT Deal - Do this, or do something else. (If you choose to do nothing, please stop complaining about things, because we would prefer to watch paint dry than listen to you moaning on and on)

"should"- the single most judgemental word on the planet

"but" especially "BUT" in e-mails!
