When people are very upset it is a great idea to change their state - at one extreme this can be having a break while you have a coffee together, at the other it can be suddenly grabbing them and saying 'look at that' - and pointing at anything - whatever way you do it, they will never be able to recreate their feelings of upset and anger afterwards. This is especially effective with children, and husbands
