The Top Skill You Really Need...

...to achieve promotions to senior positions in IT. Based on personal chats with CEOs and head-hunters. The Top Seven Skills Countdown, over seven days...concluding with the all powerful Number One, the first figurate number of every kind, apparently...

1 Leadership

Are you a true leader? In other words, if you were stripped of your job title, your traits of office, any and all power bestowed upon you, could you still get the very best out of your people?

If yes, you are a true leader and your career is flying
If no, then do something about it, starting with...

* Take the blame for everything and the praise for nothing (in public) - name the person / team to be praised - always pass praise on to people and make it specific - when something goes wrong always speak with people privately. Your team will folow you anywhere.

* Stop taking work home, bring yourself - your passion, your personality, yourself to work

* Be visible, be positive and treat everyone with respect - especialy yourself, PAs and those people in life you do not need to be nice to

PS - how to build rapport on the phone - smile as you speak...

Tomorrow - how to lose weight
