The Deal - It is time to stop talking action, and take action. I promise to share with you the most powerful, exact ways to achieve what you want to achieve. And in return you promise to take action. And that action may be what I suggest, or, if you disagree with something I suggest, you will do something else - you will do something. No more delay, no more excuses.
Roy Mcavoy"This is everything, ain't it, this is the choice it
comes down to, this is our immortality"His Caddy
"You don't need to be thinking immortality,
you need to think hit the seven iron"From the film, Tin Cup
Whether what you do is something I suggested, or the complete opposite, that's fine. I do not mind if you believe in me, I want to know if you believe in you, and in your people, your teams and in each other. That's The Deal - Our Deal.
Each week I will cover five real, day to day IT leadership issues within a category (self, people, teams, company, culture, skills, career). And each day I invite you to make a true decision to do something, and to do it.
I hope you will comment, to suggest your own actions, to share your stories on the topic and to raise a new challenge that you are facing, which will be covered in a future post. You may also choose, of course, to have a rant, to disagree with my or someone else's suggestion, and to seek a debate. That is fine, as long as you also suggest an alternative action to take.
"Anyone can oppose - it's fun to be against things, and there comes a time when you have to be for things as well"The Libertine (Screenplay by Stephen Jeffreys)
And tomorrow we will dive straight into the deep end, with the formula for guaranteed success.
(with "success" meaning whatever you choose it to mean)...

Great Blog David. I my golf coaching I follow the Naked Leader formula like this.
When playing the game and hitting the ball you either what you wanted to happen or something else. If you get what you want, praise yourself and move on in the knowledge that you succeeded.
If you get something else, focus only on what actually happened, the facts, not what you think happened. You do not have a bad swing or are you indeed a bad person, you just got something else. What were the facts? where did the ball go? and where did it finish?
The key to it all is to do something different next time.
I always enjoy what you do and say Keep Smiling and Learning.
Tony.
