The 9th Top Priority of CEOs (and of us all)

9th Career Legacy

I will leave this organisation in a better state than when I arrived Action: Find out how your CEO want sto be remembered (you don't have to ask him, just read his words, and listen to what he talks about as being important. Also, decide how you want to be remembered in your organisation – write it out, and have a successor identified asap, and ensure you are totally dispensable as soon as possible. It’s the only way to be indispensable.

The 9th priority for every human being...

A sense of personal power and mastery over others

A strong driver for human beings. Many people will not admit it in public, or even acknowledge it in private. Think about gossip, job titles, or how you feel when you hear that a business rival is not doing as well as you. Like it or not, it plays a major part in all of us. And it causes us much pain. I used to think we judged our success by how well other people are doing - which is destructive enough - I now think it is even worse - I now know that we judge how well we are doing by how well we we think other people are doing.

Action - your life is your life and no-one lives it like you do - set your own standards, values and dreams, and live by them.
