ITIL - PRINCEs litil brother

I'm a big fan of ITIL and PRINCE - we use 'lite' versions of each to run our IT services and IT projects. Truly the OGC are the unsung heroes of global standards.

One thing occurred to me the other day. Why does PRINCE cover all project types, whilst ITIL only covers IT services? Could ITIL be extended to become SIL (service infrastructure library), and so extend this wonderful example of common sense across all types of services?

You are so right Adam.

Years ago the itSMF - the professional body for promotion of ITIL - debated whether to drop the "IT" bit, and wimped out. They just changed it to small letters to denote the reduced emphasis.

OGC have never made the change with ITIL. With the new ITIL Version 3, the IT side is even less important. perhaps the break could have been made with V3 but that opportunity has been missed.

SIL V4 anyone?
