In spite of thepoor IT jobs market, some skills,
particularly those involving web development, are still in
demand.
The
ComputerWeekly.com survey of appointments, data and trends,
compiled by Jobadswatch for Salary Services Limited (SSL), has
reported an increase in jobs for people with JavaScript, Ajax and
PHP
programming skills.
The survey showed an increase of 7% in
JavaScript jobs for Q1 2009 compared with Q1 2008, while Demand
for
Ajax increased by 1%. Demand for PHP programming skills grew by
10%, the largest increase of any of the skills tracked, while SAP
demand fell the most (66%).
There has also been an increase in demand for
Windows Vista, with the number of job adverts mentioning Vista
rising by a third. This puts Vista in the top 50 of IT skills,
according to the SSL survey.
However, Vista is 49th, 30 places behind Windows XP skills, in
the SSL league table.
