Nuffield Hospitals, the UK’s largest private sector
hospitals group, is standardising on a single build of Windows XP
following a deal to buy 1,500 desktop PCs from Dell.
The deal with Dell is the latest in a series of projects that
will help Nuffield Hospitals cut its costs for most types
of operations. Nuffield, which operates 41 hospitals, needs to cut
its overheads substantially to be able to bid for set-tariff
business from the NHS.
The new
Dell OptiPlex GX520 desktops will host a
single build to reduce the costs of running Nuffield’s
proprietary hospital information systems.
The PCs will be used when Nuffield introduces electronic
procurement in the next few months.
Nuffield’s general manager for IT service management Iain Roy
said, “Online procurement will evolve in parallel with the
expansion of Dell systems across Nuffield Hospitals’
infrastructure. Dell Premier Pages offers customised web pages and
price lists that give us great visibility around Dell’s product
portfolio.”
