BCS seeks leader for Learned Society

The British Computer Society (BCS) is looking for a new leader.

The British Computer Society (BCS) is looking for a new leader for its Learned Society services department aimed at promoting careers in IT.

The department is tasked with leading the practical application of IT thinking in educational institutions by engaging with the academic and IT communities.

"Ensuring computer science is seen as an attractive career option is vital for the future of the IT industry as a whole," said David Clarke, BCS chief executive.

He said the BCS is looking for someone to drive this forward with understanding of the academic and business communities.

The director will be responsible for developing a strategy for the BCS to become the Learned Society of choice among academics, students and government.

The BCS, which has more than 67,000 members, represents the computing community internationally to establish IT as a recognised profession.
