IT services company FDM has launched a "straight through" recruitment service to help IT departments in the finance sector recruit contract staff.

The service allows IT departments to outsource the entire recruitment process for contractors. It is aimed at investment banks and other finance institutions in the equity derivatives sector.

Under the scheme, FDM will work from a detailed project specification to identify candidates and carry out interviews and any necessary technical tests to produce a shortlist of contractors.

FDM maintains a specialist database of contractors, some of whom have previously worked as FDM-employed IT consultants.

The service is designed to simplify recruitment for IT departments, offer savings in recruitment costs and provide staff who are ready to start work swiftly.

Chief executive Rod Flavell said: "With ever increasing dependence on IT in the financial sector, straight through recruitment is becoming a necessity."

The scheme has launched with clients including HSBC, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and ABN Amro, he added.
