Three quarters of businesses adopting IP services are saving an average of 12% of annual IT spend - £136,000 per annum each -...
The report estimates that savings of £1.9bn - 0.5% of gross domestic product (GDP) - could be reaped if all mid-sized businesses in the countries surveyed adopted IP services, with the UK saving £4.5bn or 0.4% of GDP.
IPservices bring together telephony-based communications with those of the Internet and include e-mail, Internet access, virtual private networks and messaging services.
Ovum projects that average usage of these services will increase by 17% over the next year.
More than 800 directors and senior IT personnel at enterprises in the UK, Italy and Germany with between 50 and 999 employees were polled. They were questioned about their companies' use of IP services.
The survey concludes that IP services allow business to save money through easier management and richer levels of functionality.
