Tony Read named CEO at National Skills Academy

E-skills UK has announced Tony Read to lead its new academy

E-skills UK has announced Tony Read, a former Nortel CIO, is the new CEO at the National Skills Academy for IT.

He will take up the position on August 9th and will join after running his own IT and project management consulting company in the US in 2002.

The National Skills Academy for IT aims to develop a national register of IT professionals that helps staff develop and assess their skills. The intention is for employers to manage the skills of their IT staff and ensure the UK has world-class IT skills.

Tony Read has worked in IT and telecommunications for 25 years, spending 12 of them as a CIO or IT vice-president.

"He is passionate about establishing a world-recognised IT profession in the UK," said E-skills.
