Yahoo has announced a global partnership with Twitter that will see the companies integrate their services.
Users will be able to access their personal Twitter feeds, update their Twitter status and receive Twitter updates from within Yahoo's home page, e-mail service, sports news service and others.
The deal with Twitter enables Yahoo to take another step towards being a one-stop-shop for all social interactions following its partnership with Facebook announced in December.
Anyone with a Yahoo ID can update multiple social networks simultaneously and stay in touch with the people and information that matter most at every moment of the day, the company said.
"We are simplifying people's lives by bringing their social worlds - and the world - together for easy access," said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice-president, consumer products group at Yahoo.
Yahoo also plans to use its access to the Twitter public data stream to improve the relevance and freshness of content across Yahoo sites, the company said.
"The information in one single tweet can travel light-years farther with this Yahoo integration," said Twitter cofounder, Biz Stone.
The real-time search integration is available immediately. Other parts of the integration are expected to launch later this year.
