IT workers only behind journalists in drinking stakes

IT professional are the second biggest consumers of alcohol in the UK, with only hardened media types drinking more.

The Guardian reports that a survey carried out by YouGov on behalf of the Department for Health found that IT workers drink about 34 units of alcohol every week. The recommended maximum consumption for men is between 21 and 28 units a week.

Media workers get through on average 44 units a week.
