Richard Duvall, the co-founder and launch director of Prudential's online and telephone bank Egg, has died aged 44.
Duvall joined Prudential in the early 1990s and pushed through radical transformation at the company, establishing an online bank. Bill Gates called him "one of the most dynamic people I have ever met".
To get Egg off the ground, Duvall developed the brand and business plan, persuading some sceptics within Prudential that the bank could work. He secured £50m for its launch and helped to turn the public on to internet-only banking.
