BT has acquired online IT retailer to expand its service offering to SMEs.

As well as continuing to sell the range of IT and telecoms products, BT will add its own range of products and services to’s online catalogue.

Established in 1990 and employing more than 200 people, processes about 75,000 customer orders each month and offers more than 15,000 products.

Bolton-based Dabs has around a million existing consumer and business customers across the UK, as well as a small operation in France.

In the year ended 31 March, the company’s revenues were £180m, and gross assets were valued at £42m. Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Ian Livingston, chief executive of BT Retail, said, “Dabs is a dotcom success story and one of the best companies in its field.”
