Oracle is targeting the SMB arena with the launch of an entry-level programme aimed at resellers and independent software suppliers who wish to sell Oracle Database and Application Server Standard Edition One and Standard Edition to SMBs.
OPN QuickStart Plus builds on the existing OPN QuickStart offering, which enables resellers to offer to SMBs Oracle Standard Edition One products aimed at the SMB market. It extends the reach to include independent software suppliers and partners who wish to sell Standard Edition, designed for mid-size businesses. During the next six months, Oracle plans to recruit 500 new partners via OPN QuickStart Plus.
Oracle say that SMBs can expect partners enrolled in OPN QuickStart to be able to display expertise in a number of areas such as full access to the OPN Competency Centre, technology training, developer skills and access to the Oracle University online library.
"Oracle is the right technology partner to work with when engaging with small and medium-sized enterprises, because of the amount of effort and resources it is dedicating to the SME marketplace," says Ian Cowley, managing director at Oracle supplier Answer Solutions.
"Oracle not only supplies products, it also supplies basically all the things that SMEs need but often cannot afford themselves."
