Tandberg has launched a video conferencing solutions
which it says will allow small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs)
to redefine the concept of what it means to be at work in the same
way as such tools have empowered large enterprises.
The video and networking firm sees an opportunity for its new
Movi product as in the current economic environment it says
SMEs can’t afford the lost productivity and missed opportunities
that often result from workers being away from the office.
The new Movi product is designed to extend SMEs’ video network
to enable face-to-face communication based on high-definition
communication from a PC to any other standards-based telepresence
and video solution.
Movi delivers up to
720p high definition quality resolution at 30 frames per second
when using a suitable web camera and, for example, when calling
into a telepresence or video conference meeting, the PC video will
be able to operate with HD quality.
The product also makes use of Tandberg’s
intelligent network features such as firewall traversal,
multipoint conferencing, recording and archiving and the ability to
connect with legacy ISDN services. A management suite provides
phone books and directories, as well as the ability to see and
advertise presence. This means users can see who is available in
real time and connect with them at the click of their mouse.
