EMC
is providing support for Microsoft's recently announced
virtualisation expansion programme.
EMC's move includes support for
Microsoft's Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and Microsoft System

Virtualisation allows firms to reduce their hardware costs by
running multiple operating systems on a single server to support
different applications and services.
"Combined with Microsoft's
virtualisation technology, EMC's innovative storage and
information management solutions enable customers to realise
operational benefits and achieve a more dynamic IT environment,"
said Tom Roloff, senior vice-president of EMC Consulting.
"EMC is well positioned to assist customers adopting Microsoft
virtualisation technologies through our leading Microsoft
consultancy, storage technology integration across Microsoft's
broad product portfolio and deep experience in information
infrastructure for virtual environments," he said.
EMC's Symmetrix, EMC CLARiiON and EMC Celerra fully support
Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, to help provide a scalable, highly
available information infrastructure for virtualised environments,
said EMC.
EMC is also offering a backup and recovery solution for Windows
Server 2008 Hyper-V with EMC NetWorker software.
EMC is offering Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and System Center
assessment and planning services, and design services for
application virtualisation with Microsoft Application
Virtualisation and Windows Server Terminal Services
implementations.
