British Airways and BAA have announced that all long-haul
flights will have moved to
Terminal 5 by the end of October this year.
Originally planned for April, the two companies had to postpone
the move after Terminal 5's problematic opening in March. A number
of issues hit the building, including
several IT related failures. The BAA
baggage system failed, resulting in 500 cancelled flights and
over 23,000 misplaced bags.
Flights from Terminal 4 will move on 5 June. The remaining long
haul flights will move on 17 September and the end of October.
BAA and BA said in a joint statement, "Terminal 5 is working
well, and this phased move has been planned in the interests of our
passengers."
