CapGemini Chief Technology Officer Carl Bate says the IT
department in its current form will die.
As Google expands its business products and services portfolio
and Microsoft attempts to get a foot in Yahoo’s door software as a
service is the future.
Talking to Computer Weekly's Karl Flinders in London’s bustling
Soho, CapGemini CTO Carl Bate explains why the IT department - at
least in its current form - will soon be history.
In particular he identifies three trends associated with the
Internet that he believes are changing the IT department: the fact
that (almost) everybody is connected to the Internet, that workers
and IT equipment are inseparable, and that businesses are
increasingly moving towards IT services rather than products.
