The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust is piloting a newsingle sign-ongateway portal to allow staff secure access to health data.

Horizon Physician Portal from McKesson provides medical staff with anytime, anywhere on-screen access to vital patient information from a variety of sources.

Using a single sign-on through a web browser, clinicians can obtain data from across the enterprise and personalise views of this information according to their specific workflow needs.

The system gives clinicians immediate access to critical information whether they are at home, in the office or even by the patient's bedside.

Horizon Physician Portal acts as a gateway to a broad array of resources and system applications from clinical information systems, imaging and scheduling systems, core PAS systems, communication systems, and internal or third-party content.

The Portal enables any NHS organisation using any NPfIT (National Programme for IT) system to bring all information together in one guise.

The Whittington trial follows reports that staff at another Trust wrongly viewed the records of a celebrity patient.
