Eight suppliers have been awarded a GP Systems of Choice
(GPSoC) Framework Contract byNHS Connecting for Health.
The first five suppliers have already signed contracts and the
remaining three should sign over the next month.
EMIS, InPractice, Microtest, Seetec and Healthy Software have
already signed contracts and represent the first wave of GP
clinical system suppliers to the GPSoC Framework.
This Framework will provide practices with a choice of upgraded
GP clinical systems from the
National Programme for IT (NPfIT), alongside the systems
offered by the local service providers.
GPs had demanded a greater choice of IT systems to use under the
NPfIT, over and above those offered by the main regional suppliers.
The government launched the GPSoC framework last year in
response.
The other three suppliers among the eight are CSC Computer
Sciences (providing TPP's SystmOne), iSOFT and Waveform
Solutions.
Despite losing cash and being amid a takeover battle, iSOFT has
made the list.
