Defence technology company Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL), the UK-based subsidiary of Raytheon Company, has opened a systems integration centre at Uxbridge in west London.

The new facility will also serve as the new, expanded site of the company's London office after RSL's expansion into the new areas of national security and defence training.

The move was assisted by West London Business and Think London, the foreign direct investment agency of the city.

Michael Charlton, chief executive of Think London, said, "Expanding in London will ensure Raytheon can tap into a local pool of more than 500,000 experienced IT professionals."

Charlton said London, which makes up one-fifth of the UK technology market, also had the largest cluster of IT software and services companies in Europe.
