Over 30 companies are so far interested in bidding for a
massive
IT outsourcing contract at
Sheffield city council.
The companies recently attended a bidding conference at the
council’s offices, and are after a contract that is expected to be
one of the UK’s biggest local authority IT contracts.
The Sheffield contract covers core services including ICT
provision, revenues and benefits, payroll and financial business
transactions. The council also wants to outsource human resources,
financial business transactions, business transformation, and
property and facilities management.
Liberata is currently the supplier for the core group of
services, but that contract comes to an end next year.
The UK’s biggest local authority contract is at
Birmingham city council, where Capita holds a contract worth
over £600m.
Jan Wilson, leader of Sheffield city council said, “We are a
council constantly striving to improve and innovate. We want to
deliver outstanding services to the people of Sheffield, and we are
looking for a partner who can work alongside us to deliver
that.”
