IBMis teaming up
withAMDandNovellto create an
integrated SME Linux server offering built around IBM’s next
generation Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) data server,
codenamedCheetah.
IBM said the solution would provide new availability and
security features in a low cost offering to help small and
medium-sized businesses meet their critical needs.
IBM said Cheetah has now entered open beta testing for customers
and business partners.
The new Linux offering will combine IDS Cheetah, SuSE Linux
Enterprise Server from Novell and IBM xSeries 3105 scalable servers
powered by AMD Opteron 1000 Series processors.
Scheduled for release later this year, IDS Cheetah is designed
to offer new capabilities to help customers extract more value from
their business information.
Cheetah will also provide enhanced support for hierarchical data
structures, built-in flexible text searches, and unstructured
documents.
