Business Objects has acquired Nsite Software to help
develop its software-on-demand business.
The acquisition of the software as a service (SaaS) solutions
provider gives Business Objects access to Nsite's on-demand
application platform, engineering talent with experience of
building and managing SaaS offerings, and around 27,000 current
Nsite subscribers.
Business Objects said the deal “will greatly accelerate and
expand its ability to deliver on-demand business intelligence
solutions, building upon the success of crystalreports.com [its own
software-on-demand site]”.
Nsite's application platform lets users quickly and easily
build, customise and deploy on-demand solutions that deliver the
performance of enterprise applications through a browser.
Nsite provides drag-and-drop functionality and uses asynchronous
Java and XML (Ajax) technology for maximum usability and
performance. The platform is also integrated with salesforce.com
customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, and includes a
wizard for building easy point-and-click web services integrations
to other applications.
Business Objects will use the platform to build and offer
customisable on-demand business intelligence applications that
integrate multiple data sources, such as information from
enterprise resource planning, CRM, and other information
systems.
The value of the acquisition has not been revealed by the two
companies.
