Home shopping group Littlewoods has awarded Cable &
Wireless a five-year contract worth more than £20m to provide a new
network for its growing business.
Littlewoods, which expects its online shopping sales to double
to £800m over the next few years, plans to have moved all eight of
its contact centres to the new network by the end of this
month.
The Cable & Wireless deal is the final part of a
consolidation programme that will see every part of Littlewoods’
business migrate to a new platform. Work started on platform
consolidation when Littlewoods acquired rival home shopping
business Shop Direct last year.
The new network needs to be ready before the third week of
November which is Littlewoods’ busiest week of the year.
Littlewoods’ CIO Martin Wyke expected that the managed service
contract would cut the retailer’s network costs by more than 20% a
year.
