London-based software company Alfresco is about to
release an open source enterprise content management (ECM) system
to help organisations keep track of their electronic
data.
Alfresco was started in January by John Newton, co-founder of
ECM provider Documentum and John Powell, the former chief operating
officer of business intelligence firm Business Objects.
The Alfresco product automatically processes information into
files and adds metadata, so information can be found using
Google-like searches.
The company says its beta product is already being tested by a
number of corporate users, with its development being speeded up by
the open source developer community.
