Europcar has awarded Unisys a renewed five-year,
multimillion-pound distributed IT outsourcing
contract.
In an expanded programme Unisys will provide installation,
management and support services for PCs, mobile systems, printers
and other components of Europcar’s IT infrastructure.
The agreement covers Europcar's seven head offices and 1,500
agencies across Europe.
"Unisys meets our intensive quality and responsiveness demands,"
said Stefan Ostrowski, Europcar director of information systems.
"Unisys offers services at competitive prices and has succeeded in
creating a relationship of mutual trust with us throughout Europe,"
he said.
Unisys is providing around 25 people to handle management,
support and maintenance services for Europcar's head offices and
agencies. Unisys will also provide support and maintenance for the
IT network equipment at Europcar's head offices.
An expanded Unisys program management office (PMO) will manage
all installation, management and support services, schedule service
calls and manage the system’s service event resolution
lifecycle.
Europcar recently completed a two-year revamp of its network,
which it expects will slash communication costs by 60%.
The upgrade was key to Europcar's business plan to deliver new
services to customers. The company wants to distinguish its service
from its rivals by offering rental offices nearer to its corporate
customers' offices, in addition to outlets at airports.
The network upgrade included an ADSL-based IP virtual private
network operated by Vanco.
