European law firm Taylor Wessing is improving it operations with a dedicated high-speed fibre network from Geo.

The fibre optic network runs between Taylor Wessing's London offices in the City and its central London datacentre.

The network is built using Geo's high-speed fibre network which runs deep underground through London's Victorian sewer system.

Taylor Wessing needed an optical fibre network to ease growing demand on its communications infrastructure. It also wanted to ensure business resilience by having diverse data and voice traffic routes.

"As a busy European law firm, we're increasingly producing a large amount of data as well as transporting it over the internet and between offices," said Tim Hyman, IT director at Taylor Wessing.

"The bulk of our communication with clients is also now online, and we're providing more and more online services to them. We therefore need a robust, high speed fibre network in order to carry and manage all that information," he said.

He added: "We also identified that we couldn't run our business effectively using standard connectivity to the InterXion datacentres - it could be a potential bottleneck. That's why the only suitable option was fibre."
