Security software supplier Kaspersky Lab has released beta versions of anti-virus products for Microsoft's new Vista operating system.
The beta versions are "maintenance updates" to Kaspersky's Anti-Virus 6.0 and Internet Security products. The first Vista products are aimed at consumers, but the supplier said it is creating versions of its enterprise security applications for business users of Vista.
Windows Vista already incorporates a number of security tools, and also includes anti-virus capabilities. As a result, some experts have said that users may be less likely to buy third party applications from the likes of Kaspersky.
However, Kaspersky said that despite this, it is important for Kaspersky and others to offer alternatives to users.
