Insurance broker Swinton Group has started supplying online insurance quotes to visitors to its 450 shops after completing a £1.3m network upgrade.
Employees in Swinton’s shops recommend insurance products from a panel of insurers. The new network allows in-store customer advisers to access its online panel of products and make recommendations more speedily.
Before it hired telecommunications supplier Thus to build the £1.3m network, Swinton had relied on a dial-up system.
Swinton’s strategic development manager Rob Davidson said, “Thus has been able to accommodate a further 95 sites to our original roll-out plan at short notice and without massive upheaval.”
The network consists of two 100Mbytes connections with Ethernet access.
