Vodafone has launched a system to allow users of its 3G/GPRS Mobile Connect laptop data card to share their connection with up to four other users.

The solution means companies could issue just the one card to several staff and save money on multiple subscriptions. Additional users access the 3G network via standard WiFi connections on their laptops.

Vodafone’s 3G/UMTS Router has made its first appearance in Spain and is set to be launched in other countries in coming months.

The router with data card costs from 200 euros (£140) to 350 euros depending on which mobile data subscription is chosen by the user. A subscription for higher amounts of data will attract the lower price.

Vodafone launched its 3G mobile data card over 18 months ago, and currently offers the most widespread 3G connectivity in Europe.
