The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has developed a vulnerability database to help IT security professionals learn about and fix IT flaws.
The National Vulnerability Database (NVD) includes all publicly available US government information on vulnerabilities and provides links to industry resources.
The database is built using a dictionary of standardised vulnerability names and descriptions, and will help security professionals tackle the 300 new vulnerabilities NIST says are reported every month.
The database is being updated daily and already contains around 12,000 vulnerabilities.
Users can search the database using software names and versions, supplier names, and vulnerability type.
The NVD was developed in conjunction with the US Department of Homeland Security.
