SAP will release a new version of its CRM (customer relationship management) software in the fourth quarter.

The new mySAP CRM 2005 is an upgrade from version 4, and reflects the company's new strategy of naming new releases by the year of launch rather than a higher version number.

The new version, running on NetWeaver middleware, will include new business intelligence capabilities provided via the new mySAP Analytics solution, announced last month by SAP.

MySAP Analytics is designed to improve the management of customer and partner relationships.

SAP said CRM 2005 would provide users with tighter integration between their supply chains and their financial systems when launching new products, simplifying return on investment analysis.

There will also be an e-mail response management function so companies can improve their management of inquiries and promotions. In addition, SAP is providing new mobile applications based on the Blackberry mobile platform from RIM.
