HP puts more security on business PCs

This July Hewlett-Packard will release a range of PCs featuring new security technology and back-up and recovery software.

This July Hewlett-Packard will release a range of PCs featuring new security technology and back-up and recovery software.

The HP Compaq Business Desktop dc7100, dc5000 and dx6100 use the HP Protect Tools Embedded Security Manager - motherboard-based security chips working in tandem with software.

The system can carry out simple file and folder encryption; perform security processes independent of the processor, memory or operating system; and help reduce system attacks, denial of service and network attacks, said HP. The PCs are priced from £478.
