Novartis, a global pharmaceutical and healthcare company, has decided to replace its legacy software systems at offices in more than 50 countries with several enterprise applications from SAP.

A longtime SAP customer, Novartis has chosen the SAP for Pharmaceuticals portfolio of software systems based on applications from mySAP Business Suite.

Novartis aims to harmonise its IT infrastructure by rolling out several applications, covering areas such as HR, supply chain management and CRM.

Novartis intends to optimise its supply chain management processes while complying with US Food and Drug Administration regulations on electronic records and signatures for the pharmaceutical industry, SAP said.

The pharmaceutical and consumer health divisions of the Novartis group will begin global deployment of the mySAP HR application initially in the US and Switzerland.

In addition, the group will deploy in its offices around the world the mySAP Business Information Warehouse application in a move to streamline local and global reporting and analysis through a common enterprise-wide format.
