German business software company SAP has agreed to co-operate with China's Neusoft Group in developing software for small and medium-sized enterprises in the region.

The companies will focus on creating software for a range of industries, including banking, chemicals and telecommunications. No financial details were disclosed.

"This is one of the many partnerships we will forge as we expand our presence in the Chinese market," he said. "To operate successfully in China, we need to partner with local companies."

The Neusoft Group has several holding companiesand owns the National Engineering Research Centre for Computer Software and the National Engineering Research Centre for Digital Medical Imaging Equipment.

It also has strategic partnerships with several large technology companies, including Cisco Systems, IBM and Sun Microsystems.
