Enterprise tool developer Borland has announced an initiative to move users of VisualCafé and WebGain Studio tools over to its own JBuilder Java tool.

Borland is will announce its migration roadmap, featuring a free tool called JBuilder WebGain Import Utility Wizard as well as technical support.

The import wizard is compatible with JBuilder and will enable current VisualCafé and WebGain Studio users to move applications to JBuilder and the Borland Enterprise Studio for Java development offerings. Enterprise Studio is built around JBuilder.

JBuilder works with application servers such as BEA WebLogic Server.

"This is really a migration tool for [VisualCafé] customers," said Bill Pataky, director of product management of the Java business unit of Borland. "From what we understand, most of their customers were also BEA customers so this is a natural migration for them."

JBuilder WebGain Import Utility Wizard began yesterday (17 September).
