Organisations still wary of virtualising mission-critical apps
Organisations are still wary of using virtualisation for their business-critical applications, according to a survey commissioned by virtualisation management vendor Veeam Software. Of the 500 US and European IT directors polled, 44% said they avoid using virtualisation for mission-critical applications because of concerns about the ability to back-up and recovery data.

RedHat has announced four new Premier Partners with its Virtualisation Specialisation. The first partners to gain RedHat's Virtualisation Specialist status are GROUPLINK (Germany), Kelway (UK), Redpill Linpro (Norway) and SCC (Spain).
Extreme Networks reports 26% rise for first quarter
Extreme Networks has revealed a 26% boost for its first quarter of 2011. For the quarter that ended Sept. 26, net revenue increased to $83.8 million compared to $66.3 million for the same quarter last year.
Geoghegan exits Digital Realty Trust
Digital Realty Trust, the whole sale data centre provider, has announced the resignation of Bernard Geoghegan, senior vice president international. Geoghegan joined the company 2006. Frederick S. Potter, currently managing director of the company, will expand his responsibilities to oversee Geoghegan's.
HP CEO to testify
HP's new CEO, Leo Apotheker, will testify at the ongoing trial to determine how much his previous firm, SAP AG, will have to pay Oracle for intellectual property theft. Oracle's attorney, Geoffrey Howard, said in an Oakland federal court that Apotheker will testify.
