Businesses need to understand the size of deals that IT suppliers prefer to ensure they receive good levels of care and attention from them after contracts are signed.
It is no longer just a case of selecting a partner based on technology specialisation but also the average size of the contracts they have.
Equaterra recently completed an extensive survey of 660 UK IT outsourcing contracts signed by 220 companies. The research ranks 25 suppliers in terms of customer satisfaction.
It found that different suppliers have strong customer satisfaction in specific contract sizes. which shows that businesses need to take care to select a supplier that will value them as a customer and not just a chunk of revenue.
"Talking to a big US system integrator for a small deal is not always a good idea," said Lee Ayling, managing director at Equaterra. "The question to ask would be: are you big enough to matter to them."
Equaterra research found that the top 3 suppliers in terms of performance for deals up to £10m were:
- Tata Consultancy services;
the top 3 suppliers in terms of performance for deals £10m to £25m were:
- HP Enterprise services;
and the top 3 suppliers in terms of performance for deals £25m to £50m were:
- HP Enterprise Services.
The same survey found that Wipro, Mahindra Satyam and Cognizant were the top service providers in terms of general satisfaction, according to respondents.
