General election social media manifesto

There is more activity than ever related to the British general election and all the parties are steam-rollering their new manifestos out to the public this week using social media. But will it make any difference to the way people vote?

Many have claimed online that this is the first election where social media will make the difference, even to the extent that many have claimed this to be *the* social media election. But is that overstating the importance of the online debate?
The educated middle classes who inhabit forums like Linked In or Twitter would probably be engaged with the election process anyway, but can this debate about policy online draw people in who would never usually have engaged with politics? What’s your view?
